2. Get an MT5 account with Fusion Markets or IC Markets

The Strategy Tester runs on your broker's gold price history, so you need an MT5 account. Our own published backtest used Fusion Markets data, and both brokers below have deep gold history and raw spreads. A demo account is enough to test.

3. Download the EA and run the test

Complete steps 1 and 2 to unlock the download.

Download GoldTriEngine.ex5
  1. In MT5 choose File → Open Data Folder, open MQL5 → Experts, copy GoldTriEngine.ex5 into it and refresh the Navigator.
  2. Open the Strategy Tester (View → Strategy Tester, or Ctrl+R). Choose Expert: GoldTriEngine and Symbol: XAUUSD.
  3. Set Timeframe M15, pick your date range, a $5,000 deposit and 1:100 leverage, then press Start.
  4. Compare your result with our published backtest. Results differ with the broker, the data and the dates.

The Strategy Tester needs no license key. To run the EA live on a real or demo account you need a license. Backtests are simulations, not a promise of future results. Gold trading is risky: risk disclaimer.
